Set to sail: newbuild diving support vessel Mermaid Asiana.
Mermaid adds to subsea fleet
Mermaid Offshore Services recently took delivery of a newbuild diving support vessel (DSV) Mermaid Asiana from ASL Shipyard in Singapore.
The DP2 vessel is equipped with a 100-tonne heave compensated Helia crane, a fully built-in and classed 12-man saturation diving system rated to 300 metres water depth and in-built remotely operated vehicle (ROV) facilities.
Construction on the vessel first started at ASL Shipyard in December 2007.
The newbuild was understood to be built as a multi-support vessel to Warstilla design.
Mermaid subsequently acquired the unit from Nemo Subsea and adapted the vessel design to suit DSV requirements at an early stage, according to the vessel owner.
Talks are underway for charter opportunities in the Southeast Asia and the Middle East.
