Curtain raiser: BG Group is preparing to hand out contracts for its Australian LNG venture
BG set to hand out Curtis lollies
UK-based gas giant BG Group will award $3 billion worth of contracts for its planned Curtis liquefied natural gas project in Gladstone in Queensland state in the first half of this year.
BG said late yesterday that Bechtel Group, which has already won the engineering, procurement and construction contract, will order long-lead items for the LNG plant such as compressors and storage tanks, according to a Dow Jones report.
BG said it will also start placing orders for materials and equipment for gas field development and the building of a 320-kilometer pipeline from its gas fields to the port at Gladstone, the news agency said.
