Songa Venus wins Shell work

Cyprus-based Songa Offshore has confirmed that it won a contract from supermajor Shell for the Songa Venus.

Shell would like to use the semi-submersible rig for a programme in the Browse basin off Australia.

The contract runs for 156 days, with three options to drill additional wells that could extend the period for 50 to 60 days each, Songa said in a release.

The base contract, which is scheduled to begin 1 April, is valued at about 40 million.
