Songa Delta: drills a dryhole in Norwegian Sea.
Norwegian probe hits dust
Norway’s Det norske oljeselskap has hit dust in the 6507/11-10 exploration well drilled in the Norwegian Sea production licence PL 476.
The operator said the wildcat encountered slightly thinner reservoir intervals than expected, but detected no hydrocarbons.
The dry hole was drilled by semi-submersible Songa Delta about 5.5 kilometres east of the Midgard field.
The well was aimed at testing the hydrocarbon potential of the Lower and Middle Jurassic reservoir rocks in the Fangst and Bat Groups.
Det norske oljeselskap is the operator of PL 476, with an ownership interest of 40%. The other licensees are Lundin Norway (30%) and Norwegian Energy Company (30%).
