New work: for Jacobs on the Hawkins field in Texas
Jacobs bags Hawkins field gig
US outfit Jacobs Engineering Group has landed a construction services contract from ExxonMobil for revamp work at the Hawkins field, Texas.
ExxonMobil will install new facilities to recover and reinject nitrogen and other gases from the field's natural gas production, in a bid to boost output .
The move should also extend the field's life by a further 25 years.
Jacobs will provide engineering, procurement and construction services for the Hawkins project.
The contract value was not made public.
Construction is expected to begin in the first quarter of this year, with project start-up scheduled for late 2011.
Hawkins, which lies just east of Dallas, was discovered in 1940 and in the past 70 years, it has produced more than 800 million barrels of oil.
