Getting to work: in the Neutral Zone
Extra time for Khafji hopefuls
The Al-Khafji Joint Operations company (KJO) has extended the bidding deadline for two projects in the Neutral Zone shared by Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
The company said bids for on- and offshore work in the zone had been extended.
Bids for the upgrade of crude facilities at the Hout field, originally due on 8 February, are now due on 8 March.
The extension also includes offshore project and includes water distribution platforms, pipelines and cables at the Khafji field. The original closing date was extended to 8 March from December, one industry source told Reuters.
Saudi-based companies submitted their proposals by 28 December for the expansion of offshore oil facilities and construction of an onshore water treatment facility, the news agency added.
KJO aims to boost capacity in the zone to between 700,000 barrels per day and 900,000 bpd by 2030. Output is currently around 550,000 bpd.
