Setting sail: the BOA Thalassa
Statoil signs up for Barents data
Seismic player Electromagnetic Geoservices (EMGS) has lined up pre-funding from Norwegian giant Statoil as it gears up for a multi-client 3D electro-magnetic sweep in the Barents Sea ahead of Norway's 21st exploration licensing round.
EMGS said that at present the shoot will cover a little over 4000 square kilometres, but this could be expanded if it secures further industry commitments.
Once the survey is completed, EMGS's Barents Sea multi-client data library will cover more than 14,000 square kilometres of 3D EM data.
Work is set to get under way shortly using the purpose-built vessel BOA Thalassa.
Norway is expected to launch the 21st round in May or June.
