New CEO for Indonesian producer
Jakarta-listed exploration and production company Energi Mega Persada (EMP) has appointed former Santos executive Christopher Newton as its chief executive.
Newton will report directly to the president director Rennier Latief.
EMP said Newton brought 27 years of international upstream oil and gas experience with 13 of the last 15 years in Asia and eight in total in
Indonesia.
Newton joined the company from Santos where he was president and general manager of Santos' Indonesian business.
EMP was established in October 2001 and has lept to prominence through acquistions.
In 2003, it acquired RHI, the owner of Kondur Petroleum that has a 34.46% working interest and is the operator of the Malacca Strait PSC, and PT Imbang Tata Alam which has a 26.03% working interest in Malacca Strait PSC block.
In March 2004, EMP acquired Kalila Energy and Pan Asia Enterprise, which owns 100% of Lapindo Brantas. Lapindo has a 50% working interest and is the operator of the Brantas PSC.
In October 2004, EMP acquired Energi Mega Pratama, which owns a 100% operating interest in the Kangean PSC through EMP Exploration (Kangean) and EMP Kangean.
