Statoil set for swap

Norwegian giant agrees deal with Shell

By Upstream staff

Statoil has agreed to swap licence stakes with Shell at three oil and gas fields offshore Norway and to sell a stake in a fourth, the Norwegian giant said today.

"The agreement means that Statoil is primarily swapping gas production for oil output," Statoil said.

Statoil said it would expand its interests in the Snorre, Norne and Alve fields in the North Sea and Norwegian sea, and Shell would acquire a stake in the Kvitebjorn gas field in the North Sea.
