Perenco captures Congo assets

French company buys Shell assets

French explorer Perenco has completed the acquisition of Shell's onshore interests in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Perenco took of operatorship of the area, which comprises the Tschiende, Liawenda, Kinkasi, Makelekese and Muanda fields following its acquisition of TotalFinaElf's interests in 2000.

State oil company, Cohydro and Perenco are now the only companies involved in the area.

The company's gross production in RDC is now 7000 barrels per day.

Perenco plans further capital expenditure this year in a bid to increase production.
