Sundance stretches

By Upstream staff

The US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission on Wednesday gave final approval to a plan by power giant Williams to expand its Sundance pipeline.

Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line Corp, a unit of Williams, plans to add 38 miles of new pipe to expand the existing system in North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi. The project would increase the company's natural gas shipping capacity by about 236 million cubic feet per day to serve increased market demand for gas in the south-east US.

Transcontinental is an 11,000-mile system that transports gas from the Gulf coast producing region to markets in eastern and south-eastern states.
