Pipe blaze hits Shell output

By Upstream staff

A fire has broken out on Shell's Trans-Niger pipeline in Nigeria, and will cut the supermajor's crude output by about 20,000 barrels per day for a ""few days"".

However, a Shell spokesman said there would be no force majeure on exports.

"There will be a cut back in production of 20,000 bpd for a few days while we repair the pipeline," said a spokesman, adding that the exact outage time was not yet known.

"There will be no force majeure. The Trans-Niger pipeline will be back in use almost immediately, a matter of a few days," he told Reuters.
