Cossack back up and running

By Upstream staff

Australian oil and gas producer Woodside Petroleum said today it had restarted production at its Cossack oilfield off the coast of Western Australia after closing it for a cyclone.

Production at the 100,000 barrel per day oilfield in the Indian Ocean was suspended last week as tropical cyclone Glenda, the sixth of the season, approached.

At its height, Glenda was a category five cyclone with winds of about 235 kilometres per hour.

Santos said on Monday it was re-connecting a mobile rig at its 40,000 bpd Mutineer-Exeter oilfield, and expected to resume production today.
