SembCorp scoops new jack-up order

Singapore's SembCorp Marine said today that its subsidiary PPL Shipyard has won a $190 million contract from Offshore Group to build a jack-up rig.

Building work on the jack-up will begin immediately, with delivery scheduled for the end of 2008, SembCorp said.

SembCorp said the unit will be built based on PPL's proprietry Baker Pacific Class 375 deep drilling design.

The rig will be able to drill high-pressure, high-temperature wells to a depth of 30,000 feet in water depths of up to 375 feet. It will have accommodation for up to 120 workers.

The rig is the second order placed with PPL by Offshore Group.
