Shell targets Shamrock start

By Upstream staff

Shell said today it is aiming to bring on stream a new gas field in the southern section of the North Sea in 2008.

The Shamrock field will be based on discoveries in blocks 49/20a and 49/20a-6, with total reserves estimated at about 3 billion cubic metres, Shell said.

The reserve is equivalent to about 3% of annual UK gas demand, Reuters reported.
