Electromagnetic Geoservices (EMGS) has launched a court case against Offshore Hydrocarbon Mapping (OHM) over the alleged infringement of a patent related to seabed logging.
The proceedings are to take place in the High Court in London and follow an earlier case against OHM.
Earlier this year, the University of Southampton, which founded OHM, withdrew an appeal against a decision made in July 2005 by the UK Patent Office to award ownership of a UK patent and a number of foreign applications on seabed logging to Statoil.
This patent and the foreign applications were then transferred from Statoil to EMGS.
EMGS has accused OHM of continuing to use seabed logging operations in regions covered by EMGS' patent.
