Azurite gleam in Prosafe's sights

By Iain Esau

Norwegian player Prosafe is tipped to land a groundbreaking contract to supply what could be the world's first floating drilling, production, storage and offloading (FDPSO) vessel for Murphy Oil's Azurite project off Congo-Brazzaville.

Industry sources said a letter of intent is due to be handed out by the Arkansas-based oil company by the middle of the month, with formal contract award expected to come in November.

The market has been rife with rumours for at least three months that Murphy was considering an FDPSO for Azurite.

Upstream understands that Prosafe has been "bending over backwards" to secure the contract and appears to have done enough to convince the operator, according to five market sources.
