StatoilHydro delays drill unit decision

By Upstream staff

Norway's Aker Drilling said today that StatoilHydro has asked for a delay to the declaration date for confirming the firm contract duration for the deep-water drilling unit Aker Spitsbergen.

Aker said it has accepted the request and the declaration date has now moved from 1 January to 21 January. The firm contract duration will be between three and 10 years.

Aker Spitsbergen will begin operations after delivery from the Aker Kvaerner Stord yard at the end of July. The unit was originally planned to be handed over at the end of April.
