DNO confirms Tawke success

By Upstream staff

Norwegian independent oil producer DNO said today two new wells at its Tawke field in Kurdistan in northern Iraq have both confirmed oil deposits.

"DNO is pleased to announce that the Tawke 8 well has confirmed oil in the central/down flank position of the field," DNO said.

"Good reservoir properties have been confirmed, and so far the well has achieved a gross rate of more than 17,000 barrels per day of oil aggregated from four tests. A maximum of 8000 bpd was achieved from the most productive test interval."

Tawke 5A has been drilled to its final depth, DNO said, and confirmed oil in the central area of the lower reservoir.

DNO also said it has procured a third smaller carrier rig. The Tawke 1 well has been re-entered using this rig and will be re-tested to confirm the reservoir properties and production potential of the deeper reservoir horizons.
