The award, to African Petroleum subsidiary African Petroleum Sierra Leone and Kosmos, was subject to further negotiations, African Petroleum said in an announcement.
The company had applied for Permit SL-4A-10 as part of Sierra Leone’s third bid round for offshore exploration permits earlier this year.
It is directly adjacent to African Petroleum’s 100% owned block SL-03 where the company had recently completed 3D seismic acquisition over 250,000 hectares – a study that was now being evaluated ahead of future drilling.
