The operator said planning is under way to spud Shenandoah-4 by the end of June, which is sooner than many had expected. Anadarko had previously indicated an intent to spud the appraisal in the second half of this year.
In its quarterly operations update released late on Monday, Anadarko said the well is designed to "confirm the lateral sand quality, continuity and stratigraphy of reservoirs" found in the first appraisal well, a mammoth strike that hit more than 1000 feet of oil pay in the Lower Tertiary play in Walker Ridge.
