Operating in permit area ATP 337P Mahalo, about 260 kilometres west of Gladstone, the well is expected to reach a depth of 300 metres and will target will coals in the shallow Bandanna Formation, the company said.
Comet Ridge said the well aimed to gather further coal property data across the northern portion of the block, where reserves were being targeted, and could also be completed as a producer.
