The Yolla mid-life enhancement project was approved in 2009 by the BassGas joint venture, a partnership between Australian companies Origin and AWE and Japan’s Toyota Tsusho Gas E&P Trefoil, but has run into a series of problems since.

The first phase of the project, to convert the previously unmanned platform to one with accommodation installing export compression and condensate pumping modules, was hit with a A$100 million cost overrun earlier this year due to “unique offshore construction challenges”, Upstream has reported.
