The US supermajor will spin the bit on the Mesurado-1 exploration well on Block LB-13 some time in November, it said this week.
Irving, Texas-based ExxonMobil was known to be eyeing drilling on the block in the fourth quarter after in April submitting an environmental impact assessment ahead of its drilling plans.
In May block partner Canadian Overseas Petroleum (COP) said ExxonMobil was finalising its plans for the well.
