In an announcement to the Australian Securities Exchange, the company said it had won the cyclic steam project permit after seven months following a review by the California Division of Oil, Gas and Geothermal Resources (DOGGR) and following a period allowing for public comment.
The testing programme will use up to four suspended wells previously drilled in 2007 to test an estimated reserve of 79 million barrels net to Solimar’s working interest – which varies between 33% and 100% across the permit.
