Norwegian state oil company Statoil is beginning a worldwide search for a replacement for the Airbus Super Puma H225 and AS332 L2 helicopter models.

Statoil will not resume using the models even if ongoing restrictions are removed by Norway’s air safety regulator, the company’s manager for air transportation safety Erik Hamremoen confirmed this week.

A temporary flight ban on the two helicopter models was put in place following a crash of an offshore flight off Norway this year that left 13 oil workers dead.
