The facility will have four primary focus areas: production solutions, well construction, oilfield facilities and systems and reservoir performance.
The centre includes: two test wells, 400-feet and 60-feet deep; an ideation room where engineers can work with a 3D printer to test designs in real time in high-bay labs, and a flow loop lab where engineers can simulate the conditions of unconventional well sites — for example, send mixtures of gas, water and sand through a tube to test various pieces of equipment to see how they handle varying conditions and new production environments.
