We’re taking Upstream Technology magazine online

Welcome to the new Upstream Technology free-to-access website section. Our goal is to be your main source of oil and gas technology news, views from engineers and scientists on the front lines of research and development, and to provide insights into the new tools and strategies operators are using to address the challenges of exploration and production.

In the weeks and months ahead, look for original stories on a range of topics, offered free of charge for registered readers. We hope you will find what we do here both enlightening and entertaining.

Each month, Upstream Technology will present a selection of stories under the Spotlight banner. Here you will find in-depth articles focussing on a specific theme relevant to the upstream industry — for example, Subsea Systems, Reservoir Engineering or Drilling & Completions.

Each monthly Spotlight zeros in some promising developments, research, products and services within its respective segment of the business.

The new website will include themes familiar to readers of Upstream Technology’s print magazine over the years — Tech Talk, our head-to-head interviews with engineers and scientists; Demystified, which untangles some knotty concepts and esoteric technologies; detailed field development stories in the Project Review section; and Bits & Bytes, a showcase of new products and services.

We round out our coverage with features that describe technological solutions for the challenges facing the industry today. In the current climate, that means tools that help companies save on development costs and operational expenses while maintaining the highest safety standards.

Our new digital home features the same in-depth analysis and high-quality reporting as the magazine, but with the added advantage of greater scope for video and interactive media.

Upstream Technology magazine will also continue in print as a quarterly timed to coincide with some of the oil and gas industry’s most significant conferences and exhibitions, such as OTC in Houston, Offshore Europe and ADIPEC.

I hope you find the new site informative and useful, and that you will share what you read with industry colleagues. And we welcome your feedback — tell us what you think of the new site, what we’re doing right and what you’d like to see more of on these pages.

Again, welcome to Upstream Technology online and thanks for joining us on this new venture.
