GustoMSC has announced a new drillship design for the mid to deep-water market that the company says will be less costly to build and operate than larger, higher-capacity rigs.
The Scylax design is geared to what GustoMSC calls “fit-for-purpose capabilities”, focusing on “the essential functionality for deep-water drilling”.
The design accomplishes this by reducing the high hook loads and capacities of recent ultra-deepwater drilling units, according to the company.
