The serpentine shape and movement of the Eelume device (Upstream Technology 03/2016) allows it to access constrained areas not accessible by conventional underwater vehicles, the company says.

The robot is designed for offshore inspection and light intervention, and is meant to be permanently installed on the seabed.

The tests, conducted in the deep waters of Trondheimsfjorden off Norway and at the PREZIOSO Linjebygg Subsea Test Centre in Trondheim, confirmed the vehicle’s manoeuverability and stability of its sensor and actuator platform, Eelume says.
