Russia's Gazprom is preparing to send thousands of shift workers to its gas fields in West Siberia to replace those whose shifts have reached the three-month maximum amid Covid-19-related measures.
According to local reports in the Yamal-Nenets region, some 2800 shift workers are scheduled to arrive at the state-controlled gas monopoly's fields by the beginning of July despite the risk of transmitting the coronavirus to the on-site workforce.
The fields are operated by Gazprom’s regional subsidiary Gazpromdobycha Yamburg.
The operator has reportedly told regional authorities that each person being sent has spent sufficient time in quarantine and has tested negative for Covid-19 three times before boarding the flight.
