Authorities in the Atyrau region in Kazakhstan have ordered Chevron-led Tengizchevroil, operator of country’s largest oilfield development, Tengiz, to tighten restrictions at the field and surrounding sites following the rise of Covid-19 infections, including a curfew in accommodation camps.

According to a letter, a copy of which was revealed by the Kazakh association of contractors KazService on Friday, authorities have said that quarantine and other restrictions will remain in force at Tengiz until they see improvement in the “epidemiological situation”.
