Namibia has designated oil and gas exploration as an “essential service” in a move designed to expedite the movement of capital goods, services and sector workers in and out of the country, despite restrictions imposed following the Covid-19 pandemic.

Listed player Reconnaissance Energy Africa (ReconAfrica) was notified on 24 July that drilling operations planned for the fourth quarter in the Kavango basin will be considered an "essential service".

Schedules will be arranged with the Ministry of Mines & Energy to facilitate the arrival of equipment and foreign personnel anticipated throughout September and October, according to ReconAfrica.
