Foreign workers employed at Singapore’s offshore and marine yards have become subject to the government-imposed lockdown on all those housed in dormitories in an attempt to slow the spread of the coronavirus — a move that effectively keeps most of the yards' personnel out of action.
The nation’s offshore and shipbuilding contractors had sought government clarification on the migrant workers' lockdown after the companies were earlier granted special ministerial dispensation to remain open during the nationwide lockdown period, which was originally due to end on 4 May.
