Chevron has teamed up with Mitsui Oil Exploration Company (Moeco) to pilot the technical and commercial feasibility of advanced geothermal power generation in Japan.

The partnership comes as the US supermajor is revving up its energy transition exploration in the Asia and Oceania regions.

“This collaboration provides an opportunity for Chevron to combine its subsurface capabilities and technologies with Moeco’s intimate knowledge of Japan’s geothermal potential resource geology and its long history of responsible resource development,” said Barbara Harrison, vice president of offsets & emerging at Chevron’s new energies business.
