Italian oil major Eni has announced a big change at its newly implemented energy transition team just months after former chief financial officer Massimo Mondazzi was named to be one of the company’s leaders in that segment.
Eni said on Friday that Mondazzi will step down from the role of energy evolution chief operating officer on 1 January and will be appointed to the board of directors of think-thank Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei.
Current deputy chief operating officer Giuseppe Ricci will replace Mondazzi as head of the energy evolution division at Eni.
Earlier this year, Eni launched a fresh business strategy, creating two new business groups as part of a move to reduce carbon emissions.
Mondazzi was appointed on 1 August as chief of the energy evolution division, which incorporates power generation activities from natural gas to renewables, the refining and chemical business, retail gas and power, as well as mobility marketing.
The Versalis chemical products company and Eni Gas e Luce were also consolidated into energy evolution.
