The International Association of Geophysical Contractors has rebranded as EnerGeo Alliance, focusing on the energy evolution as the sector transitions to low-carbon and alternative energy solutions.

“This pivotal time period in the global energy evolution marks a need for change and an opportunity for us to become the EnerGeo Alliance,” Nikki Martin, president of the EnerGeo Alliance said.

“This new name reflects our commitment to delivering solutions at a critical time in history with higher energy demands from growing economies and evolving energy standards from developed nations pushing this transformation forward.”

The seismic sector is known to be a cyclical industry, but instability in the last several years left executives unsure of where in the cycle they were.

With the growing trend toward an energy transition, it seems that cycle will bring the sector toward opportunities like carbon capture and storage.

Besides the change of name and focus, EnerGeo Alliance, which has members in 50 countries, has also added a new member category of Regional Industry Partners.

The organisation added the categories of Professional Services, Entrepreneur, and Individual Consultant late last year to promote the broader energy geoscience industry.
