The UK oil and gas regulator has awarded a carbon dioxide appraisal and storage licence to Harbour Energy covering the UK-listed independent company’s V Net Zero project.

The award of the licence by the Oil & Gas Authority (OGA) covers an area in the southern North Sea off the coast of Immingham in Lincolnshire.

Harbour’s proposal for the project is to store CO2 in geological formations about 9000 feet below the seabed in the depleted Viking and Victor gas fields, about 140 kilometres offshore.
