Japan’s Jera is teaming up with French players ADEME Investissement and Ideol to develop commercial scale offshore floating wind projects.

Jera confirmed Monday it had agreed key terms with the French duo for the establishment of an investment vehicle dedicated to financing the development phase of projects with at least 2 gigawatts of capacity.

The trio are looking to finance several projects over the next five years, with the developments to be centred around Ideol’s patented “Damping Pool” technology, which it claims optimises the stability and performance of a floating wind turbine, even in extreme conditions.
