The UK Court of Appeal has thrown out a legal challenge brought by Friends of the Earth (FoE) against the UK government for providing $1.15 billion of finance to TotalEnergies’ $20 billion Mozambique LNG project.

This rejection came a year after the campaign group’s original legal challenge failed, after which FoE launched an appeal because the two judges deciding the case came to different conclusions.

FoE described last week's ruling as very disappointing and said its lawyers are studying the judgment before deciding on next steps, including the possibility of a further appeal.
