The UK’s oil and gas sector is likely to be "heavily affected" by the nation’s transition to a lower-carbon economy, the government’s climate advisers said in a new landmark report setting out how the nation can meet its climate ambitions.
The report by the recently renamed Climate Change Committee (CCC), covering the committee’s sixth carbon budget from 2033 to 2037, recommended the UK cut its emissions by 78% on 1990 levels by 2035.
