TotalEnergies will introduce a 100% renewable fuel at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) in 2022.

The French company's bioethanol-based fuel will be ETBE produced at TotalEnergies' Feyzin refinery near Lyon blended, bien sur, with wine residues from the proud French agricultural industry.

This fuel should allow an immediate reduction of at least 65% of the racing cars’ carbon dioxide emissions, according to TotalEnergies.

Named “Excellium Racing 100”, the novel fuel is claimed to open a new chapter in the endurance racing and motorsport energy transition for all the actors involved.
