The UK developer of a pioneering wave energy device has been given a shot in the arm by landing £3.2 million ($4 million) in European Union funding to build a large-scale version of the nascent technology for deployment offshore northern Scotland.
Edinburgh-based Mocean Energy said the 250-kilowatt capacity wave energy device will be manufactured in Scotland and deployed in a grid-connected berth at the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) in Orkney as early as 2025.
