The construction subsidiary of PetroVietnam Technical Services Corporation (PTSC) has signed a collaboration agreement on offshore wind projects with Danish wind power company Orsted.

The collaboration aims to deliver state-of-the-art offshore substations for Orsted and partner T&T Group’s proposed multi-gigawatt pipeline of offshore wind projects in Vietnam. In addition, the collaboration also has an export angle to support Orsted’s portfolio of planned offshore wind projects.

The companies said in a combined statement that Orsted and T&T are working with local partners and suppliers to deliver Vietnam’s first offshore wind projects, targeting one project in the central south and one in the north by 2030.

Dong Xuan Thang, PTSC Mechanical & Construction’s managing director, said: “The signing of this memorandum of understanding with Orsted will play a very important role for PTSC M&C to develop its capacities for the offshore wind market which is growing in Asia as well as other countries around the world."

PTSC M&C is a recognised engineering, procurement, construction and installation contractor in the upstream oil and gas sector.

Country manager of Orsted Vietnam, Sebastian Hald Buhl, said: “Orsted is ready to support Vietnam to unleash its full offshore wind potential. Vietnam has some of the best conditions in Asia for offshore wind power, many outstanding engineering companies and a highly skilled workforce."
