The world's biggest oil refiner, Sinopec, has taken delivery of its first carbon neutral crude import and, together with the shipping arm of COSCO and China Eastern airline has received a carbon-neutral petroleum certificate issued by Shanghai Environment & Energy Exchange (SEEE).

The 220,000-barrel cargo of Olombendo crude, Sinopec's equity oil from Angolan projects, was shipped by COSCO to Zhoushan crude terminal in China's eastern Zhejiang province.

The crude was processed at Sinopec’s Gaoqiao refining and petrochemical complex in Shanghai, that produces products including jet fuel for refilling aircrafts chartered by China Eastern Airlines.
