Five oil and gas and several low-carbon energy schemes are among almost 140 new infrastructure projects the UK government has earmarked to be accelerated as it seeks to reform and streamlining planning and approvals processes.

In a mini-budget last week, the Conservative administration said it wants to promote growth and get big infrastructure schemes moving by removing barriers to the flow of private capital whilst ensuring the environment is protected.

“The current energy crisis has demonstrated just how vital it is to overcome the barriers to infrastructure,” the government said.
