The US state of Louisiana has reached another milestone in its coastal restoration efforts with the completion of work at Trinity-East Island, a part of the Isle Dernieres Wildlife Refuge and a once-popular resort on the Gulf of Mexico coast.

Conducted under the direction of the Louisiana Coastal Protection & Restoration Authority (CPRA), the island’s rehabilitation is part of the Terrebonne Basin Barrier Island and Beach Nourishment project, which includes the restoration of West Belle Headland and Timbalier Island.
