BP revealed on Tuesday that $978 million was paid out of the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill Trust during the second quarter.
It added that, as of 30 June, the cumulative charges charges to be paid from the trust amounted to $19.7 billion, effectively leaving it with only $300 million left in the fund.
BP said it expected the remaining funds in the trust to be used during the current quarter, after which claims will be paid from the company's future profits.
