The concept selection, set to be presented by Statoil chief executive Helge Lund at the Oslo Energy Forum conference on 13 February, is understood to be based on a single power cable from shore to the giant North Sea field.
However, this power solution will effectively exclude the possibility of integrating three nearby fields that are under development in the Utsira High area – Edvard Grieg, Gina Krog and Ivar Aasen – into a joint electrification project, which has been a strong demand from the government.
