The British operator, which recently confirmed it will use a tension-leg platform for Sea Lion, now aims to award front-end engineering and design contracts for the project in the second quarter with a draft field development plan due to be submitted by year-end.
Field sanction is expected in the second quarter of 2015 with first oil now targeted for around mid-2019, compared with an earlier date of late 2017 or early 2018 under a previous plan that envisaged use of a floating production, storage and offloading vessel.
